All Soul's Service: - Advance notice that this year's service will
be on November 8th at 6.00 pm here at Coton. Please could you let Cheryl know
if there is anyone who you would like to have remembered at the service.
Ely 900 - Visit of the Archbishop of York
The Archbishop of York will visit Ely on Saturday November 21st to
mark the end of the year of celebrating 900 years of the diocese.
The celebrations will start at 1.30 pm and will include three acts of gathered
worship at 2.15, 3.15 and 4.15 at which the Archbishop will speak.
Further details are available at the back of the church.
Harvest Supper: - Thank you to all who came and supported our
Harvest Supper, and worked so willingly on the quiz; we do hope you all enjoyed
yourselves as much as we did. Especial thanks go to Elaine Free and her helpers
who prepared the hall and organized the catering so efficiently,
and to those who provided puddings.
The event raised about £400 for church funds.
Aid for Afghanistan: - We have been passed a request from a
military hospital in Helmand province where there is a need for some basic items
such as sheets and towels.
There is more information and details of how the things could be sent
on the table at the back of the church.
Christmas Bazaar: - Or Christmas Tea Party perhaps!
We are hoping to remodel the Christmas Bazaar to concentrate more on tea and fun
and rather less on stalls selling things. There will still be a cake
(and food?) stall and a stall selling gifts including toys - as new -
and cards, but we would like to add some games and entertainments for adults
and children. The only thing fixed is the date, Saturday November 28th.
We really need some help on this so if you have any ideas for new attractions
and activities, please contact Rosemary Darling (211410) or Julia Hall (211723).
